Peter and Jean Maynard celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary with a nice dinner in Sussex. Attendees were: Peter and Jean, their daughters Alison and Caroline; Caroline’s family: Rob, Clara and Tom; Sidney Linnegar Peter’s friend from the British Iris Society; John and Jean Foster, gardening friends from the Mercia group; Muriel a neighbour and enthusiastic gardener.
A family holiday near St Austell, including a visit to the Eden Project.
A trip to California, with Caroline, Rob, Clara and Tom, as well as Rob’s mum Yvonne. Visiting San Diego, Yosemite, Monterey Bay, San Francisco, and Disneyland.
A trip to visit our friend Jo, who was working as a researcher at the Medical Research Council in Fajara, The Gambia. Jo took us up country in a Land Rover. We had memorable stops at the huge market in Farafenni, a cross-roads on the Trans-Gambia Highway, and at Basse. We also took our own adventure, visiting Dakar, Senegal, and Bamako, Mali, in search of West African music and culture.
